Mr. Buus has handled many cases to judgment successfully, most recently obtaining $45 million judgments against a lawyer and life insurance salesman accused of, and charged by federal authorities with, operating a securities fraud "Ponzi" scheme, and securing a $2.89 million verdict in a trademark infringement suit. As a defense attorney, Mr. Buus recently procured a defense verdict in an action involving the accidental destruction of valuable metalworking machinery. During his career, he has handled and tried a wide variety of cases, and has argued before several courts of appeal.

Because of his litigation successes, Mr. Buus has been invited to join the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a register of attorneys who have obtained multi-million dollar judgments and verdicts, and has been named as one of Los Angeles Magazine’s 2006 “Rising Stars,” having been chosen by his peers as being among the top up-and-coming lawyers in Southern California.

He has been a judge pro tempore for the California Superior Court in Orange County, acting as a settlement officer for various types of disputes. He has also authored several articles on law practice for the Los Angeles Daily Journal, including articles on proving damages as well as getting and keeping the jury’s attention.

Admissions Mr. Buus is admitted to practice before all California Courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth and Federal Circuits, and the United States District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts of California.  He has also been admitted pro hac vice in several states.
